Brown rice is much healthier than white rice. It undergoes minimal grinding and processing, which preserves vitamins and healthy minerals. Many people prefer brown rice to white rice, even though it takes longer to cook.
How to Store Brown Rice?
Like white rice, it can be stored in a cupboard in an airtight container. But if you rarely cook brown rice, I suggest keeping it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
What dishes should I use it in?
Brown rice is a great side dish and more! It can be added to various toppings, salads and soups.
If you want to save time, make a double batch and store the rice in the freezer in an airtight bag.
You can take it out and reheat it if needed – it’s very convenient!
How to cook brown rice:
- Rinse the rice under running water.
- Put the pot on the stove, add the oil and the rice. Fry gently until all the moisture has evaporated.
- Add water and salt. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down. Cook under a lid for 45 minutes. Be careful not to open the lid during cooking.
- After 45 minutes, turn off the stove. Leave the rice under the lid for another 10-15 minutes, then serve. Store in the fridge for 3 to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Done!
